HydroTherapy

A whirlpool is an effective treatment tool used by physical therapists prior to exercise in order to improve circulation, mobility, and comfort after an injury or surgery. While the extremity is submerged, the patient can move the affected body part freely to help improve motion. The warm water increases circulation promoting healing.

Goals of whirlpool use in physical therapy include: decrease swelling, control inflammation, improve ROM, decrease pain and decrease muscle spasm.
